Prague - what to see and visit in one day?

Prague- Paw traveller
Prague - beautiful, fairy-tale city, with magnificent architecture, phenomenal sculptures, cobblestone streets, incredible towers, church walls… all of these together makes that this magnificent city do not leave anyone indifferent.

The only negative impression we have brought from Prague is the exchange offices. And because this was the only minus we will start this post from this point.

The first thing you will need when you arrive in Prague is the exchange office, and if you thought you would change your money here like anywhere in the world, you are totally wrong!

Prague- Paw traveller
We got burned immediately upon arriving in Prague, exchanging one hundred euros for which we received twenty euros less than it should have been. Now, you wonder how… are we stupid or what?

The exchange office was right in the heart of the city on a very busy street, with a zero percent commission and currency exchange rate on the board, but ... bellow, in the smallest letters that even a hawk wouldn't see there was written the addition that the exchange at a prominent rate was valid for exchanging over a thousand euros.

When we realized we were being tricked, even after a discussion with a currency exchange employee, there was no chance of giving our money back to us.
And so, this was unpleasant, but we didn't let this negative experience spoil our mood and diminish the impressions about Prague that followed.

There is so much to see in Prague that you will not know where to go first.

So let's the walk begin!

Charles Bridge- Paw traveller
For the beginning, Charles Bridge of course!
This bridge is a must see in Prague and you will have a great view of the castle on one side and the statues and the city on the other.

This bridge is not only a great place to enjoy spectacular views, it is also one of the best free things to see in Prague.

This bridge that has a great historical value connects Prague Castle with the Old Town.

It is a real pleasure to walk along this bridge, see the statues and continue slowly towards the old part of town.

Although Prague is a city with a rather turbulent history, the Old Town Square has remained relatively intact.

It is a true symbol of strength and ancient culture and, in my opinion, the Old Town Square is one of the best things to see in Prague in a day.

The architecture is fantastic and you could spend all day in this square that gives a special insight into how the city looked amazing in previous centuries.

What time is it? No, this is too simple. What is the relative position of the sun, moon, planet?

This answer will give you astronomical clock that shows position of the sun and the moon, and shows days, years, months, and planets.

The watch is a work of art and really fascinating to watch.

It was built in the 15th century and is one of the best preserved medieval mechanical watches in the world.
When you see it you will realize that it is no wonder why this watch is considered as the pride of Prague.

St. Vitus Cathedral is another landmark that should not be missed, as this beautiful cathedral captivates with its beauty both inside and out.

Absolutely breathtaking architecture and breathtaking stained glass windows.
Scenes like this are something that every visitor keep in memory engraved for a lifetime.

Ah, that beer! All over Prague you will see many small breweries with a long tradition that have their own beer, but if you want to taste all the finesse of different flavors then the beer museum is the right place for you.

Vinarna Čertovka street- Paw traveller
Here in the beautifully decorated interior you will find a bar with an impressive set of beer taps and a really good selection of craft beers.

All beers are Czech and what is interesting is that you can order a "train" with five or ten beer testers, or you can choose the beers you want to try. Of course, they also offer 0.3 and 0.5 beers for those who want to drink only one type.
Even if you are not a beer drinker, consider that the Czech Republic is world famous for this drink, and it's a pity if you are in Prague not to come and visit this place with a history and tradition of beer production.

And since you are already in the downtown, pull throught Vinarna Čertovka street.
Pull through literally, because in this street, two people cannot pass side by side.
This street is the narrowest street in Prague and is only half a meter wide and about ten meters long.

And where to try traditional Czech cuisine?
"U Parašutištu"! Mostly locals come to this picturesque inn and I recommend it to those who want to try simple and delicious Czech traditional cuisine at quite reasonable prices. Pork leg and ribs prepared according to the traditional recipe are something that meat lovers should not miss.

Golden street- Paw traveller
You may continue your Prague adventure with a tour of Golden Street with beautiful multicolored houses that have been turned into a museum today.
During the reigency of Rudolf II, alchemists lived on this street trying to find a formula for gold. And in the house number 22, the writer Franc Kafka lived in one period of his life.

In many houses  you will find various exhibits and depictions of the way of living in that period.

Sculpure in front of Kafkas museum
Continue your walk to the Kafka Museum.

In front of the museum is a fountain-sculpture of the modern Czech artist David Černi, representing a map of the Czech Republic that is urinated by two men.

The museum itself is a place for all lovers of literature and Kafka. The exhibition reflects Kafka's worldview and shows important turning points in his life, chronologically putted in the row with photographs, letters and other documents.

For the very end of the Prague adventure, be sure to return to the old part of the city at night...
The city looks magical, as if hiding all the magic and secrecy of the Gothic age, mixed in the same time with the modern multicultural metropolis.
Streets beautifully litted at night are stunning, and they are also much quieter than during the day when they are crowded.

Although this is a post about what to see and do in just a day, 24 hours in Prague is not enough, you need to stay a little longer if you want to feel the city atmosphere of this beautiful capital.

8 affordable accommodations on your favorite destinations in Greece

Paw traveller Planning a holiday on your own can be a hassle for someone and a challenge and joy for someone else.  We have been traveling for years by finding accommodation on our own , asking questions directly to the accommodation providers and negotiating prices. Long time ago we choose this method primarily to find exactly what we needed, and also because of the fact that the Paw traveller group is made up of two four-legged travellers, which we do not always but often take with us on holidays. If you are also taking your furry friend with you, read the post  Responsible Guest- May your DOG recommend you?
