Montenegro - Hidden beauty between water and stone

When you say Montenegro, most people think of summer, Budva, Herceg Novi, Kotor, and other famous places, but if you thought that the best thing that Montenegro has to offer is only the coast, think again! Skadar Lake- Paw traveller Looking for places where nature is simply nature, fascinating and beautiful on its own, we tend to fantasize about faraway exotic destinations, imagine the vast Argentinean pastures, the rugged landscapes, or the layered mountains of Winnikunka, and often forget that beautiful and unique places can be found much closer than it seems to us. If you know how to enjoy life, you will find beauty in all the places you stay long enough, no matter how small and often completely uninteresting at first glance. One evening, completely unplanned, we also found such an ordinary but beautiful place that we decided to travel for one week. The choice fell entirely by chance on Gornji Sustaš, a small village at the foot of Rumija .  We found accommodation in this village i

Janda in Srem, Serbia - Needlepoint embroidered in all shades of green and blue

Lush vegetation, the mighty Danube, bountiful vineyards, and the legend of the sad love of two young people who firmly decided that when they can no longer live, they will be together forever, even in death. Yes, it's all Janda! Where is Janda? Janda- Paw traveller Janda is waiting for you at the foot of Koševac hill on a slope that reaches the very bank of the river Danube. A bit sleepy but rustically beautiful in its original way. It reminds us of what most of us, while we were chasing urban facilities, cafes, restaurants, a well-organized promenades...for the weekend, forgot that it exists and that it can be pleasant and relaxing to spend a day in a village without facilities, surrounded only by nature, lush greenery teeming with life, birds and wild animals. Janda is a paradise for those who love long and endless nature walks, but also for fishermen and cyclists, and all those who have an exploratory spirit. There is nothing on Janda. There are no well-maintained roads, shops,

Memorable bites of Montenegro - Barske štufade

Barske Štufade - Spičan specialty that pushes the boundaries Gornji Sustaš-Paw traveller During our visit to Gornji Sustaš, a small place above the city of Bar, we had the privilege of trying the phenomenal meal "Barske štufade", a traditional specialty of the Spičan region, which was prepared by Mrs. Zorica Vulezić for her "slava" family celebration, according to her mother-in-law's recipe. Zorica and her husband Slavko were our very kind hosts at the "Holiday Home Vulezić" , where we spent seven days, and who made our stay more beautiful in many ways. Although a novel could be written about the kindness of the Vulezić family, we will still return to the topic of travel tastes and fantastic "štufade" meal! "Barska štufada" is a dish that pushes the boundaries in the preparation of beef , even though it is made from very simple ingredients, beef, turmeric, vegetables, rosemary, pepper... you can certainly adjust the spices to your

At a walking pace through the Srem district - Stari Slankamen

Old Slankamen nestled on the "Sea" of Danube Wineries, čarde- small restaurants on the river banks, the beach, hunt for Hun treasure, dark legends from the past, hammam, church more than 500 years old, remains of fortresses built by the Celts, salt water spring... Do you really need more reasons to visit Stari Slankamen?  We didn't, and... Paw traveller Thinking that morning located in Slankamenacki Vinogradi, where we could go for having a coffee and possibly lunch, we headed towards Stari Slankamen . The road is solid, and the landscape beside the road is beautiful. Orchards, meadows, fields on all sides, and then completely unexpectedly, the road passes through an earthen gorge and the view bursts from the top of the serpentine to Stari Slankamen . If you didn't know you are in Serbia, you would think it was the sea! Oh, oh, the wide Danube , the flat Srem , and the Tisa flow in nearby, so the width seems even wider. And if it happens that the Danube attracts thund
