On PAWS Across Pelion Peninsula- Part One

Different Greece-Pelion Peninsula- village Xinovrisi, small hidden paradise

Hello, I'm Mishkin, a long haired chihuahua. I'm eight years old and I love to travel.
Here's how I jumped to Pelion with my friend Antigona and companions.

Seeking to experience a different type of Greece my companions discovered Pelion in 2017, and in the summer of 2018 they invited my friend Antigona and me to join them on their second visit to this, not so much explored peninsula.

And, in the blink of an eye, we have been on our way to this adventure.

The journey was long, but it payed off!

Pelion is a place where the sea and mountainous area blend together perfectly creating landscapes that are different from other parts of mainland Greece.

We found nice accomodation "Leonidas bungalows", in the hills of Southeast Pelion in the lovely village Xinovrisi, with romantic white washed stone houses and breathtaking views of the Aegean Sea.
This sleepy village has about one hundred inhabitants and it is a true example of slow-life lifestyle.

There is no stores, souvenir shops, boutiques... If you need to buy something you can do that from a traveling salesman who is driving a van full of fruit and vegetables around eight o'clock in the morning, or in the nearby Argalasti, eight kilometers away, which is much more developed.

Cobblestone paved trails of this village are perfect for walking and discovering the colorfull corners, lovely courtyards full of flowers and traditional houses.

There is a square in the village with few tavernas nestled beneath huge plane trees where you can enjoy beautifully prepared homemade Greek food.

I recommend lamb chops and chicken with kritaraki.

When you are here don't miss to try Recina, a Greek wine with a long tradition. This is characteristic wine because it's produced with the addition of pine resin during fermentation, which gives a strong specific aroma and taste to this wine.

This wine is not expensive and it is worth a try, especially it is not widespread around the world.
I may say it is Greek specialty.

Xinovrisi village is a great location for adventurers and etno tourists who love to stay in the natural envoronment.

If you are looking for a place to rest, sleep and swim in beautiful clean water, Xinovrisi and Southeast Pelion is the perfect place for you!

If you like long walks you can follow a path from this village, about four kilometers long, that passes through a gorge with rich flora and fauna, which ends on the lovely and magnificient sandy beach Potistika.

In my opinion Potistika is the most beautiful beach of Pelion where swimming in crystal clean waters is a real pleasure.

The beach is wide and long and in extension there are two more beaches- Melani and Paltzi.

During our stay we used to come to this beach every day and we didn't get bored at all. It is a real pleasure just to sit under the huge rocks and sniff the air with the taste of waves, or just enjoy siesta at the beach.

I hope I tickled your imagination and that you wished to visit phenomenal Pelion.

8 affordable accommodations on your favorite destinations in Greece

Paw traveller Planning a holiday on your own can be a hassle for someone and a challenge and joy for someone else.  We have been traveling for years by finding accommodation on our own , asking questions directly to the accommodation providers and negotiating prices. Long time ago we choose this method primarily to find exactly what we needed, and also because of the fact that the Paw traveller group is made up of two four-legged travellers, which we do not always but often take with us on holidays. If you are also taking your furry friend with you, read the post  Responsible Guest- May your DOG recommend you? In this search for the perfect accommodation that will satisfy specific taste of your hairy companion, the   Pet friendly map of Greece  may also be helpful. In this post we present you affordable accommodations with links where we stayed and were satisfied with the price/quality ratio.
