Chihuahuas, Antigona and Mishkin advise you from the first paw experience about nutrition and care while travelling.
Hey, here we are again! We just wanted to bark a little about things you need to take care about when you are travelling with your dog.
Our two-legged friends are full members of our family as we are, so we allow them to accompany us on trips, whether it is just for a weekend or longer vacations.
So why not travel with your dog too?
What matters to you- two-legged, when deciding to this step is to ensure that your dog feel comfortable while travelling. So that's why two of us have some helpful tips on nutrition and care of your best friends while on the road.
We, four-legged are sensitive and can show unusual behavior while travelling as any change can be stressful for us.
For example, the two of us behave completely different when travelling somewhere.
Mishkin fell asleep as soon as he gets in the car, as if he is in the most beautiful feathered bed, while Antigona has trouble to find good position for herself and spending most of the trip on her small paws. That's why she is often privileged and taken into the arms of two-legged- wof, like a real princess!
And when we arrive at our destination we again not behaving the same.
Immediately upon arrival, Antigona thinks that she is in her kingdom, which means that she can land her paws and go around as long as her paws carries her, and that everyone around her are her servants whose sole purpose of existence is to please her, while Mishkin is distrustful and generally like to be near two-legged and by no means let them out of sight.
These tips will help you make journey with your dog as carefree as possible, and that you all enjoy and gain new experiences in learning about the new cultures and magic of travel.
Enough barking, here are some tips!
One of the most important tips for the well-being of the four-legged during our journey is to be hydrated enough.
If you have taken us on a longer trip, be sure to bring some water.
We need to drink water frequently and you have to count on taking more frequent breaks to give us the opportunity to ease ourselves and get the job done. So a toilet break is a must!
Be sure to bring some food that we are used to, to avoid stomach problems such as nausea and diarrhea.
A dog probiotic is also a must have. One teaspoon as a supplement to the meal helps to avoid diarrhea and ensure proper stomack function.
Adjust our food like you normally do at home, so we can avoid accidents and discomfort while travelling together.
Minimize human food while travelling.
Don't be fooled no matter how intelligently we make sad faces or give you the sweetest dog looks. Just to let you know, we do it on purpose!
Bring our bed or blanket and our toys to help us feel comfortable and like we are at home while we are in a different environment.
Exept of the bed and toys, and the food we already mentioned, don't forget to pack hygiene bags.
If you forgot to buy you may use regular -for the freezer, utensils you should have in your house. Better yet, it's good for your budget because they are extremely cheap.
Also pack a leash, flea and tick treatment, and documents.
Well, it's not that complicated to prepare for a joint trip, and we four-leggeds love adventure as much as you two-legged ones, so it would be a pity not to travel together.
We hope that we encouraged those who also share their lives with dogs to travel together for the next trip.
