Is your accommodation pet friendly? And why it is not?

From the first paw - Dog tips for future pet-friendly accommodations and owners who take their pets with them

Paw traveller
Our travel companion and travel organizer start planning our vacation with the accommodation search.
First, she types desired location, and she's delighted - super 300 plus!
Then she puts a pet-friendly filter, and suddenly it looks like we grasp at straws! The search is reduced several times...
Why is it like this when there is great potential in pet-friendly tourism? And why we are not welcome?
If the type of accommodation you are renting out allows the possibility for furry friends, try to allow pets.
If you are the owner of a hostel, of course, this is more difficult to make possible. But if you have a villa with separated apartments, a multi-level house where the apartments on the ground floor have access to the yard, or let's say bungalows with nice terraces... What stops you from being pet friendly?

Ah, wof! Preconceived notions that a furry guest will cause damage and leave a mess!
Ok, you have a point, but…
Although pet-friendly service increases cleaning costs, their owners are willing to pay for it.
Trust us, most pet owners are happy to take their furry friend on vacation and as a result, they are acting responsibly, although of course there are always exceptions.
The fact is that there are many different types of us. Both, us dogs and our owners... but, although we are subjective because we are from the canine family, our opinion is that irresponsible guests - homo sapiens can cause much more damage than pets.
They steal towels and bathrobes, they come in the wee hours drunk and make noise and disturb other guests, and they can't control their human little ones who behave like they are off the chain (for example, they jump into swimming pools where it is not allowed and risk serious injury), and similar... There are plenty of examples of irresponsible guests - homo sapiens.
We never do all of the above, we swear!
Instead of not being pet-friendly, be pet-friendly by setting certain rules like these:

- Let's not go to the furniture.

- That we don't stay alone in the room.

- That we are not left unattended in common areas or the garden.

- Limit the number of adorable furry creatures per unit… and such things

And you, our owners, justify the trust of pet-friendly committed accommodation providers, and be responsible:

- Bring for your best furry friend bowls for water and food, it is not right to serve him from the bowls you found in the kitchenette.

- Bring a bed for your pet, make him comfortable and feel at home.

- Do not let your dog walk on the furniture, because the cleaners have to pick up all the hair.

- Keep your dog clean, because the accommodation is also used by people who don't have animals, so it's not right if something feels or has traces of a dog.

- Take care of your pet because it's not fair to expect of yard cleaners to pick up what your best friend left behind.

If this post has encouraged you as an accommodation owner to decide to be pet friendly then welcome us with open arms without weight or breed restrictions.

Perhaps you could hand out dog treats and set up water bowls at the reception. Delight us because we are your guests too!

Happy dog + happy owner = good review.

8 affordable accommodations on your favorite destinations in Greece

Paw traveller Planning a holiday on your own can be a hassle for someone and a challenge and joy for someone else.  We have been traveling for years by finding accommodation on our own , asking questions directly to the accommodation providers and negotiating prices. Long time ago we choose this method primarily to find exactly what we needed, and also because of the fact that the Paw traveller group is made up of two four-legged travellers, which we do not always but often take with us on holidays. If you are also taking your furry friend with you, read the post  Responsible Guest- May your DOG recommend you? In this search for the perfect accommodation that will satisfy specific taste of your hairy companion, the   Pet friendly map of Greece  may also be helpful. In this post we present you affordable accommodations with links where we stayed and were satisfied with the price/quality ratio. Pictures and descriptions of accommodations on their site...
