Wof, that Uvac- Zlatar- Serbia- Part two

Cruise through the Uvac canyon

Paw traveller- Antigona

Hello, I am Antigona, long-haired chihuahua. I am 12 years old and I like to travel with my friend Miškin, who is also a chihuahua. I wrote how old am I just to assure you that there are no limits if you are vital and ready for adventure.

How we organized and arrived here was written by my companion in the post "Wof, that UVAC - Part one", and now, I will write to you about how we spent the second day on Uvac and cruising the canyon.

This was a phenomenal trip that I recommend to everyone. We booked the trip from our home in Belgrade through the Zlatarinfo portal, cause we didn't want to risk coming and realizing that there is no free place, and besides of that my companion had to announce two four-legged and two two-legged passengers. The price of the trip is 1500 dinars per two-legged passenger, and for us, four-legged beauties, it is free!

Paw traveller- Special Nature Reserve Uvac
The cruise starts from the dam in Rastoke, near the village of Akmačići. The trip lasts about four and a half hours, so bring water and some snacks. I also recommend comfortable hiking shoes and a sweatshirt or sweater for climbing on some of the viewpoints and visiting the ice cave. And off we go!

We set off through the canyon, the lake has a beautiful emerald color, and the huge majestic cliffs that surround us leave us breathless.

Griffon vultures cruised above us, which we enthusiastically observed both in flight and on the nests of the surrounding rocks. The only sound was the boat's engine. After about fifteen kilometers we reached a low ridge and from there began the ascent to the viewpoint point Veliki vrh.

Wof, how steep that climb was, I almost seemed to give up, but my companion remembered to bring a bag for me and a backpack for my friend to take us in a more comfortable way. Let’s face it, we are small and we’re city faces, so our gentle paws still wouldn’t last to the top. They put me down a few times on flatter parts of the road, and I really enjoyed the walk.

The road to the top is steep and rocky, and as we climb higher the view becomes more and more spectacular.

The trail is a little longer than one kilometer and leads through the woods, which made this climbing more enjoyable. Our group was not in such a great shape and it took us about half an hour to reach the top.

Paw traveller- Meanders of the river Uvac
From the top, there is a panoramic view of the meanders of Uvac and we were thrilled to witness this natural phenomenon.

It is even more beautiful than in the pictures, and the picture speaks more than a thousand words - simply the beauty of nature that leaves you breathless!

After the break, we returned to the boat and headed to see another attraction, the ice cave.

Four-legged fellows are not allowed to enter the ice cave, and even if they let you get in with your furry friend, consider whether it is good or not.

To be honest, we don't like sudden temperature changes, and the temperature in the ice cave is constant in winter and summer, 8 degrees Celsius. So...

My companion came in, while we stayed on the boat.

Afterward, she told me that there was no lighting in the cave and that they got flashlights at the entrance. The cave is rich in cave jewelry and the pillars reach up to ten meters. Such richly studded stalactites and stalagmites give the cave an almost Gothic look. Together with the Ušačka cave, it forms a system of about 6 kilometers and is considered one of the oldest caves in Europe.

What more can I say, take the road under your paws and goooo... to the direction of Uvac!

Long time ago we choose this method primarily to find exactly what we needed, and also because of the fact that the Paw traveller group is made up of two four-legged travellers, which we do not always but often take with us on holidays. Jamas! - Tastes of Greece - RETSINA wine

Retsina - a Greek wine with a long tradition which is mainly produced from Savatiano, a not very well-known grape variety characterized by an extremely high percentage of sugar in the grape seed. Paw traveller Retsina is a wine that people have been drinking since ancient times. S ince they did not have cooling methods they used resin to seal the amphorae in which they kept the wine, which resulted in the authentic and unusual taste of this drink. Although Greece today produces exciting wines from Asyrtiko, Xinomavro, and other grape varieties, there are still growers throughout central Greece with large Savatiano vineyards and a market for retsina -   the wine produced from it. This wine is characterized by the fact that it is produced with the addition of pine resin during fermentation, which gives it a strong and specific smell and taste.
