Wof, that Uvac- Zlatar- Serbia- Part one

Paw traveller- Uvac
Insufficient information on the internet about Uvac and the fact that we are traveling with our two best friends - two dogs, prolonged our decision to travel to this location which is definitely worth a visit.

Anyway, the hour was upon us and we decided to go on! An extended weekend to Uvac - a Serbian gem!

After several hours of searching on the internet, we come to the conclusion that agencies offer bus trips where our friends are not welcome, and we decide to travel on our own.

We found the desired accommodation on one site, but in the desire to get a better deal, we continued our search that took us to the portal ZlatarInfo, which was a complete success. The accommodation that we originally found on the mentioned site for 50 euros, cost us 35 euros per day. We have booked two nights and that is enough to visit this locality without haste.

The great thing is that by calling the contact phone from the Zlatarinfo portal, you will organize everything from your home. They are extremely kind and helpful, they will book the accommodation for you, arrange meals in a rural household and schedule a trip. Confirmation with all the information will be sent to your phone in an SMS message, which will contain the contact number of the person for accommodation and half-board, and who to contact at the dam for the trip through the Uvac canyon.

You don't need more than this, it's up to you just to pack your things and bring a good mood, your pet, and an adventurous spirit. They will also check for you if the accommodation is pet friendly, emphasize in your name the hosts and the guide on the boat that you are taking your pet.

If you are traveling with a dog that is smaller in size, a "must-have" is a bag or backpack adapted to carry the animal. The climb to the viewpoint is long, steep, and rocky, and not adapted for your little friend. This accessory, which is not expensive (costs about 8 euros), is very useful, and your little friend will observe the surroundings from the comfort of your purse and reach the highest points, rested and happy.

The journey from Belgrade to Uvac, with a short break, lasts about four and a half hours. We drove along the Ibar highway through Čačak, Užice, and Zlatibor towards Nova Varoš. On Zlatibor, we took a coffee break and breakfast in the cafe "Kod Loja", which is located approximately halfway between Užice and Zlatibor. The cafe is pet friendly, has a spacious garden and a beautifully landscaped area for children. I recommend a set of buns with kajmak, which we ate with pleasure, and our furry friends also greased their mustaches.

After that short break, we continued towards Uvac.

We love the wilderness and untouched nature, so we decided to stay in the village of Akmačići, which is about eight kilometers away from Nova Varoš. Another reason why we choose this village is that it is located at the "door" of the special nature reserve Uvac, and is close to the dam from where the boats depart.

The village is small and has almost no facilities for tourists, one shop and two cafes - "Njegoš" and "Božur". My recommendation is to arrange a meal in a rural household (two meals cost about 10 euros per person).

You arrange everything with your host, whether you want breakfast-lunch or breakfast-dinner, and also arrange the time when you want it to be served to you. As we had a scheduled trip for 10:30 in the morning, we arranged breakfast at 9:00 and lunch at 17:00. The food is homemade, warm, and fresh.

Upon arrival, after a short break, we walked around the village and its surroundings went down to the dam, and walked through the reserve. Just after about five hundred meters from the entrance to the nature reserve near the dam, there is a viewpoint on the lake and there you will have the opportunity to see griffon vultures cruising in the sky above you. The hiking trail stretches along the edge of the lake, so if you are in good shape you can walk as much as your feet carry you.

In the evening, we headed to the Uvac camp (there is a sign near the school in the village of Akmačići). The road to the camp is bad, macadam and full of cracks (it is better if you have a SUV). As we went in the early evening, we passed herds of cows that the shepherds were returning from grazing, which is a kind of experience. At the top of the hill, in untouched nature, there is a camp with a couple of log cabins and space for tents.

The village of Akmačići is located at about 1200 meters above sea level, so the evenings can be fresh. Bring appropriate clothes and shoes that will be useful to you when you go on a cruise.

If you like to sit outside for a long time in the morning or in the evening and enjoy the breeze, allow your furry friend to be by your side.

Tired of all the daily adventures, your furry friend will enjoy a crib or blankets more than cold and dewy grass. In less than a minute, he will fall asleep and continue dreaming of some new adventure.

If you have already created in your mind the image of this beautiful place, and you are thinking over what your pet dreamed about, and how he liked the trip through Uvac Canyon, read PART TWO.

8 affordable accommodations on your favorite destinations in Greece

Paw traveller Planning a holiday on your own can be a hassle for someone and a challenge and joy for someone else.  We have been traveling for years by finding accommodation on our own , asking questions directly to the accommodation providers and negotiating prices. Long time ago we choose this method primarily to find exactly what we needed, and also because of the fact that the Paw traveller group is made up of two four-legged travellers, which we do not always but often take with us on holidays. If you are also taking your furry friend with you, read the post  Responsible Guest- May your DOG recommend you?
